During the first 10 years of Mr. Thomson's career, he was a general practice lawyer engaged in family law, real estate disputes, and all other types of litigation. For the past 25 years, he has concentrated his practice on all kinds of personal injury cases, including automobile accidents, bicycle accidents, motorcycle accidents, dog bites, wrongful death, and other cases involving an injury created by the negligence of another person. In 1982 Mr. Thomson was recognized by the judiciary and appointed a judge pro tem of the Federal Way District Court. Mr. Thomson has in excess of $20,000,000 in settlements and verdicts. Mr. Thomson frequently serves as a court appointed arbitrator in personal injury matters. The appointments are made by King and Pierce County Superior Courts.

Mr. Thomson received a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington in 1971, a master's degree in public services and executive development from Ball State University in 1974, and a law degree from the University of Puget Sound in 1978. He was in the top 15% of his class. He continues his legal education by attending regular seminars on personal injury topics.
Mr. Thomson was the president of the South King County Bar Association (1988), the vice-president of the South King County Bar Association (1987), the secretary of the South King County Bar Association (1984-86), and a trustee of the South King County Bar Association from 1982-1984. Mr. Thomson is also active in Rotary International. He was president of the Federal Way Club in 2002, he was secretary from 2007-2011, and has also been a director. Mr. Thomson has also been designated as "lead counsel" a peer review process by LawInfo.Com (a part of Thomson-Reuters).
Mr. Thomson is a member of the Washington State Association of Justice and is also recognized as an Eagle member of that group which dedicated to fighting for the rights of injured people in the State of Washington.
